DX1 – Bio

DX1 comprises of brothers Michael and Conrad Cruise, a roots and reggae-influenced duo hailing from Leeds. They create music that, whilst having that unmistakable reggae back beat in its DNA, rings the changes in mood, tempo, subject matter and style thanks to a varied roster of guest vocals and maximum use of modern music making technology to produce a varied palette of sounds.

Michael and Conrad take care of all compositions, arrangements and instrumentation and clearly enjoy experimenting with different subject matters and moods. This collection contains material partly dating back to the 1990s with other music composed more recently; the fact older and newer material can coexist so successfully here illustrates the longevity of traditional reggae and roots music perfectly.

That said, there’s plenty of originality and innovation in this collection to avoid DX1’s sound being a “me too” experience; it’s fair to say the reggae and roots foundation is used as an aural canvas to paint the different styles onto.
